My day in sports started as a little moment in school – when I saw Indian Baaz Academy come to show us a self-defense session in MMA. I was born in a middle-class Muslim family where girls had a very restricted freedom, and therefore, for me, sports once became an unattainable dream. I still recall standing by watching and wishing I could join it. At that time my coach Vaibhav Yadav came to me and asked, “do you want to try?” My heart said yes, but my lips said no, because my family would never do that.
With courage, and the help of my coach, I began to train gradually. At first I had taunts — people said, “She practices with boys, who will marry her?” But my mother encouraged me saying: “When you succeed, the same people will stand in a line to praise you.”
I worked hard and hard, and eventually even my father started to support me. I kept trying and trying, my determination paid off, I won Gold at Lucknow District Level, my first step to success. And then came the day my coach and I had been waiting for: on 17th November 2022 I won my first National Gold Medal in Muay Thai at MP Dewas.
The same people who used to criticize me, greeted me with garlands and honor. Today, as a proud member of the Indian Baaz Sports Academy’s Core Team and a skilled Coach, I am both inspired and humbled by my role in shaping the future of sports, reinforcing that dreams are indeed attainable – with a mix of courage, hard work, and the right mentorship.
Join Indian Baaz Sports Academy and make the first step towards a better and brighter future.
Thank you.
